Bear Yuba Land Trust protects critical salmon spawning stretch of the Lower Yuba River

Pacific Gas and Electric Company (PG&E) entered into an agreement with nonprofit organization Bear Yuba Land Trust (BYLT) to hold a conservation easement on a 23-acre property called the “Narrows” along the Yuba River.

Time was extended when a generous donor agreed to bump the deadline of BYLT’s annual Trails Appeal from Sept. 30 to Oct. 31. This anonymous donor has pledged to match each dollar donated to BYLT’s Trails Fund – up to $40,000.

Family Visits Memorial Bench

Though the Wetherall family is now scattered far and wide, some of them recently made their way back to Nevada City to celebrate their parents, Bill and Orene Wetherall, with a memorial bench ceremony on October 16th on the Orene Wetherall Loop Trail off of the Cascade Canal ditch trail.

For 25 years Bear Yuba Land Trust (BYLT) has been working to save land, build trails and provide nature programming. Now, looking forward to the next 25 years, BYLT wants to hear from the community about values of land conservation and ecosystems.
