Citizen Science at Burton Bio Blitz

Bear Yuba Land Trust’s (BYLT) stewardship team invites “citizen scientists” – community members without a science background – to gather data at the beautiful 38-acre Nature Preserve known as Burton Homestead.

Nature as the classroom – field trip offers new experience for local high school students

On a warm spring day 41 curious adolescents hiked hand-in-hand or were pushed in wheelchairs outside in the open air April 6 at Bear Yuba Land Trust’s Burton Homestead. Students from Nevada Union High School’s Special Education Department and boys and girls basketball teams were learning, exploring and all smiles.

Dan Heibel Adopts BYLT’s Black Swan Trail

Meet Dan Heibel, the new adopter of the Black Swan Trail. The two mile Black Swan Trail is located near the town of Smartsville. Dan will be retiring soon and was looking for a meaningful activity to keep him active.
