A day with “Redhawk” ~ Exclusive Lake Tahoe excursion for 4 ~ Value $1,000
Thanks to owners Lew and Debra Dobbins, Bear Yuba Land Trust is offering an exclusive Lake Tahoe Cruise in a meticulously restored, award winning, twenty-four-foot 1929 genre, Christ Craft triple cockpit wooden boat. An excursion on Lake Tahoe like none other! Included in a grand day at Tahoe is a private tour of the Tahoe Maritime Museum and a gourmet lakeside picnic for four at the historic Stanley Dollar home on Chinquapin property near Dollar Point. Laura McKnight sold this property to the Dollar Steamship family and moved to the west shore to build Vikingsholm on Emerald Bay. Stanley Dollar was a Gold Cup Unlimited hydroplane racer in Skip-a-Long and Tahoe was its home base.
This day will highlight Lake Tahoe History and give the winning bidders a glimpse of Tahoe’s heralded wooden boat culture that is alive-and-well thanks to The Northern California Chapter of The Antique and Classical Boat Society, Tahoe Yacht Club and their Concours D’Elegance boat show. Held early in August, it is the zenith of Classic Boat Shows in the United States and abroad.
As conditions allow, we will try to accommodate any cruise destination request. Winning bidder must be flexible as this outing has to coordinate the logistics required with weather and availability of all parties involved. The tour includes a video copy of Godfather II for viewing afterwards.

Exquisite Norfolk Island Pine wooden salad bowl handcrafted by Artist Mike Snegg ~ Value $800
An exquisite translucent Norfolk Pine salad bowl hand-carved by Mike Snegg can be yours! Measuring 14” across and 8” tall, the “natural markings” of the bowl are defined by the symmetrical ring of branches that are particular to this beautiful Norfolk Pine. Local artist, Mike Snegg is world renowned for his handcrafted wooden vessels. This beautiful salad bowl will be admired and treasured while you serve bountiful meals to friends and family.
A very similar Norfolk Island Pine bowl that Mike carved from Kauai and signed by President Carter sold for $32,500 at a benefit for the Carter Center in July 2018.
“Making bowls from trees is the discovery of that internal shape, which has grown in the wood for years waiting to see light. I find growth rings and activity that tell the story about the life and history of the forest and the tree itself. Working with this tough wood takes skill, strength, experience and an artist’s touch to achieve a razor-sharp natural edge – much less an entire vessel that’s so thin it has a dramatic, translucent glow.” Mike

Fund A Need ~ Invest in Litton Trail
“We are excited to announce that this year’s Fund-a-Need pledges will support improvements to our very first trail project, the Litton Trail,” says Seward. “Decades later, this trail has proven to be an amazing community asset that serves all ages and abilities in the heart of a busy live, work and play center. Our vision is to provide accommodations and upgrades that meet the needs of the community well into the future.”
Litton Trail is a well-established trail through an informal urban greenbelt in the vicinity of the Sierra College campus in Grass Valley. The greenbelt is a blend of small forest reserves associated with a country club, irrigation canal, community college, high school, and retirement community in this area. The Litton trail ties them all together with lots of variety and interest. Trails require ongoing care and maintenance. On Litton Trail our summer interns have just completed enhancing the Sierra Nevada Memorial Hospital Foundation Memory Garden with native pollinator plants.
In addition, the City of Grass Valley has agreed to provide $30,000 of match funding for the revitalization of the Litton Trail. Thus each Fund A Need dollar will be doubled.
