Bear Yuba Land Trust is pleased to announce a new series of Family Treks with Certified California Naturalist Steve Roddy – Junior Conservationist: Stories in Nature. A conservationist is someone who advocates or acts for the protection and preservation of the environment and wildlife.
These outings are designed for children ages 5 to 12, accompanied with a parent or other caregiver. We’ll explore three local trails and discover the plants, animals and history of each special region. Participants will receive stamps for each Junior Conservationist excursion they go on with certificates given to those who complete all three treks in the series!
This morning we focus on birds! There’s a lot to learn about woodpeckers. We will hike about 2 ½ miles on Cascade Canal Trail and BYLT’s Orene Wetherall Trail on Woodpecker Preserve. It’s a well-shaded trail used by many local families. California Naturalist Steve Roddy is our guide and will stop with a storytelling break about halfway to share some animal tales.
Cost: FREE – Donations are always welcome.
Registration closes at 9:00am ONE business day before the event, unless otherwise specified.
Space is limited. We encourage you to sign up early.
