Job Description: Outreach Coordinator

The Outreach Coordinator assists Bear Yuba Land Trust’s Development Director in outreach, communications, and event coordination with the goal of increasing visibility, membership and revenue. This is a part-time hourly position (24-30 hours/week) with associated benefits. The Outreach Coordinator reports to the Development Director. Bear Yuba Land Trust’s office is located on the historic North Star House property in Grass Valley, CA.

Job Responsibilities

  • Promote BYLT in community events. Assist in logistics, marketing, and presence.

  • Provide support for BYLT special events.

  • Maintain and update website. Engage with consultants and webmaster when needed.

  • Maintain and update online trails portal including mapping, information gathering, photos, and comments.

  • Write email blasts, newsletter articles, magazine articles and collateral about BYLT and area trails.

  • Engage in public outreach techniques and technology using social media and smartphone apps.

  • Collaborate with outdoor enthusiast organizations, chamber of commerce, tourist agencies and businesses, local businesses, environmental organizations. Pursue and arrange meetings. Develop presentations.

  • Promote BYLT through trail cards, signage, posters and other collateral.

  • Update donor database with public officials, community businesses, and nonprofit organizations.


Job Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree

  • Communications or Development experience

  • Excellent writing and verbal communication skills

  • Personal or professional interest in outdoor recreation

  • Frequent computer use

  • Lift and carry up to 30lbs

  • Occasional weekends/evening work as required
