Art In Nature Artist Talk & Workshop

Celebration of Trails Art In Nature Artist Talk & Workshop

With artist Peggy Wright

Sunday, June 2
12pm – 1pm

Wildflower Ridge Preserve: The talk and workshop will take place on the Wildflower Ridge Trail, about an 1/8th mile from either the A-Z or Twin Cities Church parking lots. The site is located within the Preserve roughly where Ridge Road and Rough & Ready Hwy bisect.

Art In Nature commissioned artist Peggy Wright will be on hand to talk about her artwork “Nest” and facilitate the artistic participation of those gathered in a collective building of the sculpture.

This is a FREE family friendly event! “Nest” will be on view throughout the month of June. Read more about our Art In Nature Installations and all of our Celebration of Trails events here.

More About “Nest”:
Constructed of intertwined material gathered at the site of installation, and emulating a bird’s foraged materials, Peggy Wright’s “Nest” symbolizes the protection and nurturing of nature that is Wildflower Ridge Preserve: “Like a natural nest, Wildflower Ridge serves to preserve our environment for future generations.” Peggy will begin the sculpture on June 1, after which the community is invited to further build on her vision by adding twigs and other organic materials from the Preserve.

More About Peggy Wright:
I find inspiration in the textures, patterns and shapes of the Earth’s varied forms and surfaces, and I use these metaphorically to create organic structures that will relay an experience or articulate a concept. My sculptural work is an integration of my life–long passions for dance, athletic grace and movement the in the natural environment. I use twigs, wire, and hand-made paper to create my three dimensional forms. The earthy patina of weathered natural materials supplies the color palette for my work. I then apply textile techniques to build forms that I hope resonate with the viewer. I have always loved the natural processes and forms I observe and gather, while wandering outside during the changes of seasons over time through many years and varieties of localities. Over a 40-year career my work has been exhibited in galleries, museums, art centers, colleges, and state and local arts commissions in six different states.
