What: Fireside Chat: Teen Night with 4EEE
When: 6 – 7:30 pm Thursday, July 26
Where: Inn Town Campground, 9 Kidder Court, Nevada City
Cost: $10 per family
The 2018 Fireside Chat Series continues at the Inn Town Campground with a Teen Night led by Four Elements Earth Education (4EEE). Come, explore the natural world with Earth Skills Instructor Ramsey Demeter. Earth Skills are a blend of the ancient arts of tracking, wilderness survival, and nature awareness. Earth Skills immerse the student into the environment, giving them first-hand experience of how to “read” the landscape as a steward of the Earth. Appropriate for teens (age 12 – 18) and families.
“We will have our 4EEE teens challenging the participants to find them as they hide and observe the crowd; they will share some stories and insights learned from our programs; & will be leading demonstrations in tracking, friction fires (without starting a fire), knife sharpening, and more. We will pass around some skulls, some wings, some primitive tools and discuss with the group. We will share insights into the fundamentals of survival and tracking, and wrap up with a blindfolded awareness challenge,” said Ramsey.
Now in the second year of this dynamic programming partnership, Fireside Chats take place the last Thursday of each month. Other chats of the 2018 season include a Women in the Outdoors gathering in August and an Adventure and Learn Panel in September. If not camping, please park outside the campground gates and walk in. We’ll be by the campfire. Support Your Community. Support Land Conservation. Support Local Trails. See you there!
