Join BYLT for a day of restoration at Higgins Pond Preserve on Wednesday, March 25th from 9:00 am to 1:00 pm; please arrive at least 15 minutes early to fill out liability forms. Meet at the intersection of Combie Road and Cascade Crossing Road near Lake of the Pines or meet at the BYLT office, located at 12183 Auburn Road, at 8:30am to carpool to Higgins Pond. Tasks for the day include working inside the pond to remove eurasian milfoil (aquatic invasive) to prep for the floating island project in April. Restoring this Preserve will improve the upland and aquatic ecosystems and will serve as an example of restoration in action in an urban environment. Volunteers will earn a Restoration Crew button for this event.
Safety: Wear long sleeve shirts, trousers, work shoes/boots, and gloves. Come prepared with plenty of water, a lunch, and everything you need to have a fun, safe work day. Please bring waders, tall rubber boots or a kayak if you have these items available; BYLT will provide all other tools and the expertise needed to complete the work. If you have any questions or comments, please email firstname.lastname@example.org
Please note: In the event of rain, this workday will be cancelled and rescheduled for a later date.
