Bear Yuba Land Trust Presents: Youth Environmental Summit 2020!
This event will take place on Saturday, April 25 from 9am-1pm at Rice’s Crossing North Preserve, near Bullards Bar Reservoir. During the event, participants will be able to explore BYLT’s largest fee-title property, which has been permanently protected for wildlife connectivity, riparian habitat and open space.
Participants will have a variety of activities to choose from during this exciting event! After an opening ceremony, a guided hike will be given on Yuba Rim and Trabbuco Trails (participation is limited). For the BioBlitz, participants will gather to discover native plants and animals to collect comprehensive biological data for the Preserve. Throughout the day, organizations dedicated to local conservation, recreation and restoration efforts will be stationed with information and activities at the Summit Fair. Participants not registered for the hike, or wish to have a shorter excursion are welcome to hike on the trails at a leisurely pace. This is a family-friendly event and children and youth are encouraged to participate!
A bathroom will be onsite, and there will be a water station and snacks to purchase (cash only). Bring a refillable water bottle, a picnic lunch hiking boots, comfortable clothes and anything else you’ll need to have a fun day! All ages welcome, please leave pets at home.

Directions: Yuba Rim Trailhead >> From Nevada City, take Highway 49 towards Camptonville, turn left on Marysville Road and cross over the Bullards Bar Dam. Rice’s Crossing Preserve is located 1.3 miles from the dam. Park in the quarry, look for the BYLT event sign.

- Download the iNaturalist app on your smartphone (if you do not own a smartphone, BioBlitz journals and a pencil will be provided to note your observations).
- Follow the directions to familiarize yourself with recording data and creating observations: https://www.inaturalist.org/pages/getting+started
- On the day of the event, BYLT volunteers will assist users if they have specific questions
