August 5, 2015 – During its 25th anniversary year, Bear Yuba Land Trust has launched a new website to showcase its deep and diverse connection with the local community.
With expanded functionality and interactive capabilities, the new site – www.bylt.org – includes detailed maps, descriptions with flora and fauna and other cool facts about conservation easements and preserves; an expanded Trails Portal with Google Earth and satellite imagery; better connectivity with Social Media sites; and a calendar and news blog featuring BYLT’s stellar Encounter Nature programming, now more robust than ever.
A project that took months to create, the website was funded by a grant from S.D. Bechtel, Jr. Foundation and designed by Nevada City based company, Winter Street Designs.
“We really took our time to get this right. We wanted a product that told the story of the Land Trust from the humble beginnings 25 years ago to the knock-your-socks-off organization that BYLT has become. Images of landscapes and people were an important component in the storytelling.
It’s satisfying to see all of our ideas come together in such a beautiful package. The website is a fun tool to use for those who like to explore the wealth of trail and outdoor experiences the Land Trust provides. Now that we’re officially launched, we’d love to hear everyone’s feedback,” said Outreach Coordinator Laura Petersen.
Bear Yuba Land Trust is a non-profit, membership-supported group that promotes voluntary conservation of natural, historical and agricultural resources in Bear River and Yuba River watersheds of the Sierra Nevada Foothills. To date, the organization has saved 9,000 acres of land through conservation easements and preserves, built more than 30 miles of trails and provided nature outings for thousands of people of all ages.
On Sunday, August 23, BYLT will hold a 25th Anniversary Dance Party featuring Latin jazz of Pete Excovedo and Sons at the historic North Star House.
