Nominate your Conservation Hero!

Bear Yuba Land Trust (BYLT) is proud to announce long-time Nevada County resident, rancher and businessman Neil Robinson and Grass Valley City Manager Tim Kiser as the winners of the 2019 BYLT Conservation Awards. Robinson is honored with the William Nickerl Award for Conservation Leader for his commitment to conservation and his dedication to enriching the community’s connection to the land; Kiser is recognized for his advocacy of local parks, preserves, recreation and outdoor education with the John F. Skinner Sierra Outdoors Recreation Award.

Robinson and Kiser will be presented their awards at BYLT’s annual fundraiser,  Open Spaces & Wild Places Gala and Conservation Awards taking place Saturday, September 21st at the historic Miners Foundry Cultural Center.

A big thank you to our community and BYLT members who nominated their favorite conservation leaders for our Conservation Hero Awards.

The Conservation Leader Award exudes these traits:

  • Demonstrate a long time commitment to land conservation
  • Be an advocate for sustainability and environmental policy
  • Have proven dedication to BYLT’s mission to enrich a community connection with land
  • Have achieved measurable success through fostering or inventing a new effort
  • Be a leader who never gives up in the face of a challenge and inspires others to act

The Outdoors Recreation Award recipient exudes these traits:

  • Advocate for local parks, preserves, recreational programming and/or outdoor education
  • Have a proven track record of outstanding volunteer service and success
  • Be a leader who never gives up in the face of a challenge and inspires others to act

To recommend more than one person or to recommend one person for both awards, you may submit multiple entries.  Please be specific in describing traits of your nominee with respect to the William Nickerl Award for Conservation Leadership or the John Skinner Sierra Outdoors Recreation Award.
