When does the virtual Gala and Awards event take place?
Show begins Friday October 16 at 6:00pm on your own computer, entertainment screen or mobile device.
Get ready in advance with some of your favorite foods and beverages and settle in for celebrating with friends and family across our community.
How do I attend?
Our event is FREE but we do ask you to RSVP. All you need to provide is simply your name and email. If you have not done so, you can RSVP now.
When you RSVP, you will receive a link by email. Just click on the link any time during the live event to join us. Don’t have your link? Click RSVP, add your email and it will be resent to you.
How does a virtual event work?
We are producing our event in partnership with Nevada County Media Center. A big shout out to the NC Media team for partnering with us!
To add interactive features, we are using a simple auction and event site called PayBee. You will be able to interactively chat with friends around our community, bid in our silent auction and donate to support the Independence Trail Rebuild

- How to pay for your Auction Items and donations
You don’t have to provide any payment information until you are ready to checkout at the end of the event. The video demonstrates how easy it will be for your to provide either credit card or banking information in one single transaction.
Where can I view the Auction Items?
View and bid on Auction items and Fund-A-Need here. During our event, you can continue to bid until will close the auction. Just be sure you have a separate window open in your computer browser or on your mobile device so you can participate in both the auction and the event together!
- Our silent auction opens October 1 and closes at the end of our event on October 16 at 7:30pm. Visit often and bid on as many items as you like! Keep checking back as new silent auction items may be added up until the event begins on Friday, October 16.
- Fund-a-Need jump starts the Independence Trail Rebuild project. This special auction opens October 1 for ongoing donations and will be part of our live virtual event on Friday, October 16.
A few bidding tips:
- When you place a bid, add a cellphone number and you will receive text updates on your auction bids. Really handy for immediate notification, if/when you get out bid on your favorite item.
- Setting up a PayBee account is quick, easy, and optional. However, if you set up an account, then your email and cellphone numbers are stored for rebidding. You do not need to reenter them in order to bid on other items or rebid if you were outbid.

How do I invite my peeps?
Galas are always more fun when you know you are meeting up with friends and family. If you have folks that want to attend this event with you, simply share the RSVP link. Or share our Open Spaces & Wild Places Gala page with more of the details. One of the best parts of a virtual event, is that anyone can attend no matter where they are!
It is time to party ~ What should I wear?
This is a time when we can say, anything goes! The cameras are not on you so make yourself comfortable ~ pajamas or sweats or diamonds and glitz!
How do I pay for donations or auction items??
Your contributions can be paid directly on our auction and event website called PayBee. When you donate through the Fund-A-Need action, and/or if you’re the winning bidder of an auction item, those items will be placed in your cart. You can “check out” and pay using credit cards, apple pay, google pay, and e-checks (bank account draft). Click here for a video tutorial on how to check out at the end of the event. The process is easy, safe and secure.
If you’d prefer to mail in a check, use another form of payment such as a donor advised fund for your charitable donation, or if you’d rather pay directly on Bear Yuba Land Trust’s website you can do that too.

How do I collect my winning Auction items?
